ACCLIMATISATION.
(To the Editor.) Sir. — Ivgarding a recent letter appearing in the “Argus.” complaining of the little hem-lit shooters derive from funds obtained by the Acclimatisation Society, that body could aptly be t< rmed the Gr-ymoutk “Accumulation’’ Society. The writer believes th<- S-icietv has a large sum of money on fixed d'posif and if they can liberate inanv thousands of trout ova at a considerable expense each season for the benefit of “th- heads.” why can not, they provide more game for shooters. who have provided the greater part of revenue.’ For instance, they could liberate soimi new opossums, also pheasants, partridges and quail, the former to build up' an industry, which must come again and ibe birds for the benefit of sporfsm n, who deserve consideration, with the money that is spent o n the “mountain dew.” After the annual meeting, whon all the big fish arc caught. 1 hey would - asily pay for a pair of partridges from England. Hoping this policy of neglect will at to-night’s annual meeting be rectified, I am etc., FFG SHOOTER.
