WHAT WILL U.S.A. DO ?
Over Manchukuo MARKING TIME YET. WASHINGTON, September 16-., The State Department has withheld its comment on the Far Eastern situation, following on the receipt of the text of th e Japanese Treaty with Manchukuo, pending the receipt of the Chinese note of protest thereon. At present there is no indication that the Department intends to break its silence regarding th e situation. It is understood to be awaiting with interest the publication of the Lord Lytto n (League of Nations) Committee) report. Meanwhile there are plane to retain the U.S.A, Consuls in Manchuria indefinitely to deal informally with the Manchukuo authorities, although tho Consuls are still officially credited China.
