At last evening’s meeting of the Grey Electric Power Board, Mr Boger Sullivan, an employee of the Board at the Dobson steam plant, was appointed to the position of assistant operator at the Board's new hydroelectric plant at Kaimata. There were four applicants for the position.

Mr L. Morrescy sustained the loss of his valuable black greyiiouml dog Black Silk (Mcriva’e Black Lass) yes-, terday when he was tccidonrly shot. An operation was performed on the dog, but he died under tn e anaesthetic. Only a young dog, Black Silk won a number of stakes at West Coast meetings.

Greymouth for the erection of houses for settlers on five blocks of land under the Small Farm Settlement Scheme of the Government. Yesterday morning th e Grey Electric Power Board staff transferred fioir. the Dobson steam generating station to the new hydro system at the Arn old River, its eleven thousand volt feeders No. 1 and No. 2, serving the Greymouth, Cobden, Runanga and sur rounding areas. The transfer was made at 6.30 o’clock, when, for the first time the Board’s consumers used the product of the hydro plant. Everything worked satisfactorily and these districts will continue to be served by the hydro plant. The remaining feeders will be transferred over the wok-end, in order to cause as little interference as possible with mining operations, should any adjustments be found necessary before power could be fully restored.
