In consequence of this demand Shipping Companies are improving the conditions of third class travel. When in London on her last voyage, the New Zealand Ship ping Company’s R.M.S. “Remuera” underwent extensive alterations to hei third class accommodation which will now include the cabins previously allotted as second class. The old third class cabins have been completely re modelled, bringing them up to a very high standard, and they now contain wardrobes and other conveniences which are an additional feature m third class accommodation. A notable innovation in the new arrangement is the inclusion of single berth cabins which have so far ‘been obtainable only in first and second class. The alterations include a new lounge and unlarged smoke-room. Other public rooms have been so improved that in every respect the accommodation is much superior to that usually provided as third class.
