R.S.A. PENSIONS

“A GREAT WIN.” (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, June 29. During a review of the efforts of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association in connection with the recent cuts in pensions, at the annual conference today. the Dominion Vice-President, Mr Perry, said the Dominion Executive had urged there should be no cuts whatever in physical disability pensions; or in the pensions for war widows with or without children, exclusive of economic pensions; or in the pensions for widowed mothers, and in pensions of the children of deceased soldiers. The proposals which were made by the Executive were accepted by the Government. He considered they scored a great win. The reductions amounted to only five per cent., when all classes of the pensions were taken into consideration.
