QUESTION OF STRIKES

MR HOLLAND’S ADVICE. (Ter Press Association’). WELLINGTON, May 2. Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, addressed a meeting ot about three hundred at Lower Hutt this evening. He criticised the Government ’s policy, particularly in relation to its taxation and economy meas- ; ures. Questioned at the conclusion of the meeting. Mr Holland said that the Labour Party was not in favour of strikes. At the present time of deflation and unemployment, said Mr Holland, strikes were not likely to be successful. and were very inadvisable. A resolution was carried demanding the repeal of the legislation concerning the reduction of wages and pensions, and also the resignation of the Government.
