LOANS IN BRITAIN

FOR EUROPEAN RECONSTRUCTION. A SUGGESTED CHECK. (British Official Wireless.) (Reed. April 29 at 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, April 28. The Financial Secretary to the Treasury. Major W. Elliott, was in the House of Commons asked whether, before acquiescing in the flotation in Britain of loans issued in agreement with France under the supervision of the League of Nations, a stipulation would be made that the French Government should allow the French issuing houses to float in France League of Nations loans in the same proportion as they were floated in Britain.

He replied that while Britain gave cordial support to the financial policy of reconstruction, of which these loans formed part, it was thought best to leave it to the markets to decide as to the placing of the foreign loans issued in furtherance of that policy.
