FAMILY ENDOWMENT. (Aus. A N.Z. Cable Assn) LONDON, April 30. Mr Willis C. Burdakin, a New Zealander, attended the Family Endowment Conference here. He explained the endowments and allowances in Naw South Wales and New Zealand. MAGISTRATE SHOT IN INDIA. CALCUTTA, April 30. Mr Douglas, district Magistrate at Midnapore, Western Bengal, was shot with a revolver and seriously wounded by a youth, who fired three times point blank when Douglas was leaving a Board meeting. The youth has been arrested. CANADIAN-N.Z. TREATY. OTTAWA. April 29. Without amendment a measure approving the Canadian-New Zealand trade agreement was given the second reading by the House of Commons on Friday night, and passed through the committee stage. It now stands for the third reading.
