U.S.A. PRESIDENCY

THE RIVAL CAMPAIGNS. (Aus. Sr N.Z. Cable Assn.) WASHINGTON, April 28. Thqugh hardly noticed in the flurry attending th e developments in connection with the Democrat race for Presidential nomination, Mr Hoover’s list of delegates has passed the number required for Ithe re-nomination. Kentucky’s twentyjfive votes accomplished this on Wednesday, bringing his pledged and claimed total to six hundred. The status of Pennsylvania’s Democrat delegation chosen on Tuesday, is still much in doubt, and is subject to counter-claims by supp'orters of Roose velt and Smith. There is no question that Massachusetts’ three-to one vote against Roosevelt has boosted the stocks of thet, groups seeking.to oppose’ him, and assured Smith of a great influence alt the Chicago convention. The battle now shifts to the California, primaries next week.
