ALLEGED SPY
I.R.A. PLACARDS A MAN. LONDON, April 29. A Belfast message states that some I.R.A. raiders called at the house of Joseph Nixon, in Armagh City, and induced him to enter a motor-car on the pretext Ithat the p'olice wanted him, the car being filled with masked, armed men. It then drove off to the country, where, following an I.R.A. court-mar-tial, Nixon was manacled with chains and trussed up, with two placards affix ed Ito his back and chest, inscribed: “Spies Beware? 1.R.A.” Nixon was then driven back to the centre of the city, where he was released. He managed to reach the police station where his chains were removed.
