A NEW DEPARTURE. The Northland Trotting Chib (Whangarei) has been granted permission by the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association to run two gal-
loping events for local horses at .ts meeting on May 21 next. This is the first occasion in recent years on which the Board has approved of the running of galloping events at a trotting meeting, though many of the smaller racing clubs hold trotting events at their meetings. The Northland programme will consist of six harness handicap trotting j
events, and the two galloping events * • for local horses.
