SCOTT’S ARRIVAL

AT DARWIN New Record Set (Aus. ft N.Z. Cable Assn.) DARWIN, April 28. Scott arrived at 10.19 this 'lgSYDNEY, April 28. Amalgamated Wireless Ltd. at Darwin advised that Scott arrived at Koeang at 4 p.m. (local time). He left Koepang at 3 a.m. and expected to reach Darwin at 7 a.m. (local time).

THE LANDING A Tough Journey RECORD LOWERED 26 MINUTES (Aus- & N-Z. Cable Assn). DARWIN, April 28. Scott had a perfect landing, and an enthusiastic reception. He wore plus fours, tan shoes, a khaki shirt and a helmet. He said he had a tough journey. mostly with head winds. Tho Timor Sea crossing was a regular nightmare. He used all his whisky in tryng to steady his nerves. He circled over a small schooner early in the morning. The folk aboard waved vio lently. He discovered Darwin after a lot of trouble. Scott added that he would never tackle a record flight again. It was too much of a strain to the nervous system. He paid a tribute to Richards as being very plucky in embarking on his hazardous Australian flight w fh only two months’ flying exp’eri ence.

Scotf will remain at Darwin until Saturday. Hi s brilliant flight provided one of the most thrilling finishes of the London to Darwin flights, lowering Mollison’s and Butler’s records. Scott beat Mollison’s record by only twenty-six minutes. Butler’s time was nine days one hour forty-three minutes, and Scott’s time eight days twenty hours thirty-four minutes.
