GENERAL’S N.Z. TOUR Greymouth Included (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, February 18. On March 21st, New Zealand will welcome the head of the Salvation Army, General Higgins, and his wife. They left Southampton on February 3rd on the Berengaria, and travelled via New York and Toronto to Vancouver, where they conducted the first meetings of their present tour. Following this they ied campaigns in Seattle, Portland and Los AJngeles. They are scheduled io conduct meetings at Honolulu from March 4th to the 9th, and are due to arrive in Auckland on March 21st. The initial public function in which the.v will take part in New Zealand is a civic reception at Auckland. Following this will come a public welcome meeting in the Town Hall, at which Sir James Parr will preside. Palmerston North will be the next stop on the itinerary, and there on March 23 they will be accorded a civic reception. The welcome meeting in the Opera House will be presided over by the Mayor, Mr A. E. Mansford. On the following day Masterton will be visited, a civic reception being accorded the visitors at 11 a.m. They k will then inspect the Cecelia Whatman Home for Children. On good Friday (March 28) General and Mrs Higgins will arrive at Christchurch, where the Civic Theatre will be the scene of n series of meetings entitled, “A Day at the Cross.” On Saturday morning at 10.30 o’clock a civic reception will take place. In the afternoon Mrs Higgins will conduct a meeting for women in the citadel. The evening will be devoted to a meeting with Salvationists. All day Sunday, meetings will be held in the Civic Theatre In the afternoon the General will lecture on the Salvation Army’s world-wide activities, the Prime Minister presiding. The next four days will bp taken up with visits to Greymouth March 28, Ashburton March 29, Teimuka and Timaru March 30, OamMarch 31. Three day’s will be

spent at. Dunedin, where a civic reception will take place at noon. The Army’s social institution in the city will be visited during Friday afternoon, including a mens’ shelter, women ’s industrial home, maternity hospital ana girls home. On Saturday afternoon Mrs Higgins will conduct a meeting for women in the Concert Chamber and a meeting for Salvationists will be held at night

The Town Hall will be the scene of activities on Sunday, three meetings being held. Mr Downie Stewart (Minister of Finance', will preside over the afternoon gathering, when the General will deliver a lecture .Invercargill will be visited on April 4, a civic? reception taking place at 1.30 p.m. and a public welcome at tho Town Hall at night. Journeying back ro Wellington. General and Mrs Big’ gins will the annual Territorial Congress from -April 6 to April 11. Hastings will be visited on April 12 and Hamilton on April 15. Following week-end caiffpaign at Aucklan General and Mrs Higgins embark by the Aorangi on April 18 for a campaign in Australia.
