MAKURA V. REEFTON. A very enjoyable day was spent at the Makura Croquet Club’s grem yes terday, 'when members of the Reef ton Club played a senes of inter-club matches with the Makura ladies. The visitors won three out of the four matches player*. At the conclusion of play Mrs lard, President of the Reef ion Club thanked pie irfemlbers of the IjociW “lub for the excellent manner in which they had been treated, and expressed the hope that the Makura ladies would pay a visit to Reefton in the near future. The results of the games aie as follows:—Mesdames W/iicken and Osborne (Reefton) lost to Mesdames Davies and Coburn II to 26; Mesdames Stallard and Prentice (Reefton) beat Mesdames Hannan and Warnes 26/16; Mesdames Wicken and Osborne beat Mesdames Thomas and Reynolds 26/15; Mesdames Stallard Miid Prentice beat Mesdames Coburn and Warnes 26/19 MAKURA CLUB MATCHES. In the final match for the Peace Bowl Mrs Whibley scr. boat Mrs Hannan '(5 discs), after an interesting game. The final of the local Silver Button series of matches was also played between Mesdames Hannan and Whibley on the same handicaps but in this match Mrs Hannan v.’a,s successful. She thus becomes the winner of the Silver Buttons. On Saturday next the Hokitika dub will play a series of matches on ‘.ho local green with the Makura Club
