LONDON, November 8. The Aga Khan’s racehorses, Nu-| shiriw and Saleve, which cost £4750 and £6300 respectively, have just been sold for £57 and £3l. GALLOPING NOTES. Lack is an exceptionally brilliant two-year-old and he gave his opponents no chance of getting near him in the Welcome Stakes. He should experience no difficulty over six furlongs later in the season, and it will take a good youngster to beat him in other important events.

Barbacan, who filled second place in the Apprentices’ Handicap, is an Aus-tralian-bred filly, owned by the Wanganui studmaster, Mr John Donald. She is a good looker and a smart galloper. Jaloux registered a fine performance to finish fourth in the New Zealand Cup. The interference he met in the early part of the race cost him a lot of ground as well as a good position. Mount Boa was going well in the New Zealand Cup till about six furlongs from home, where he dropped back suddenly. He had the bad luck to gallop on the heels of a horse in front of him and he narrowly escaped a fall.

Azalia was responsible for a good performance in winning the Apprentices’ Plate. She showed the family brilliancy and ran the mile out in resolute style. Moorbird was in a good position in the Linwood Handicap when nearing the straight, but she suffered serious interference when starting her run. Gay Crest was beaten a furlong from home in the New Zealand Cup, but he ran a fine race. He pulls hard in most of his races and this is not in his favour at -Riccarton, with its long straights, when racing over a stayer’s journey. Locksley was showing up prominently in the Spring Plate at the entrance to the straight, but apparently he made his effort too soon.

Spearful owed his success in the New Zealand Cup to his stamina. He was giving away a few lengths start to the leaders when the straight was reached but he finished on very gamely under pressure. Red Heckle showed good form in the Stewards’ Handicap, and but for suffering interference in tho early stages, he would have been even harder to shake off at the finish. Chief Cook was very unlucky in the Linwood Handicap. He got into a lot of trouble early and had a long gap to bridge from the home turn. F%ji, the winner of the Spring Stakes on Saturday, has’ started four times this season, and has been successful on each occasion. La Modernc has been wonderfully consistent in her recent races, as she has filled second place five times on end. She is a sister to Gay Ballerina, and as she shapes like staying her winning turn may come a little later in the season, when longer journeys have to be tackled.

Kakara won the Linwood Handicap comfortably, and though she may have been fortunate that two stout opponents met trouble on the journey, it was a good performance. The Paladin mare has always had plenty of speed and now she looks like running out a good mile. Cimabue did not begin so well as some of his rivals in the Stewards* Handicap, but a solid finishing enabled him to cut the opposition down in the final furlong. Though now a six-year-old he retains his form well. He comes from another branch of the Charente family, which was represented by Fiji earlier in the day. Beacon Fire, a three-year-old by Lackham, showed a lot of speed in the Spring Plate, and though he weakened over the final furlong he hung on to get third money. He has not had ■nmeh racing, so he may be expected to improve. Carinthia, a great stayer, was travelling like a prospective winner when he commenced to move up fast in the Spring Hurdles, about six furlongs from home. A little further on he stopped suddenly and it transpired later that he had broken down. In the winter of last year he was the Dominion’s crack hurdler, the Winter Hurdles at Trentham being followed by easy wins in the Grand National | Hurdles and the Sydenham Hurdles. He was a disappointment last winter, but he has shown signs lately of a return to form.

TROTTING NOTES. , The two divisions of the New Zealand Trotting Cup will be decided today. The first will be started at 1.40 p.m. and the second at 2.20 p.m. It is reported that A. Holmes will drive Harold Logan in the New Zealand Trotting Cup, but no definite announcement has been made regarding a pilot for Roi L’Or. Tn the Addington work-outs, Kohara worked at a useful pace, without the hopples. Mountain Mist and Donard did a mile and a-quarter in 2.52, the former giving a good exhibition of trotting. Olive Nelson gaye Mr Penalty a start of three seconds and the pair

finished on terms' at the end of two miles, Olive Nelson doing 4.41 3-5. Both went well. Native Star gave Ukulele Lady a start of two lengths over two miles, but three furlongs from home they were together, when the latter broke, Native Star finishing alone in 4.37, a useful performance. King’s Guard did a mile and a-half at a useful speed, registering 3.37 1-5. Proud Dillon was given strong w r ork, finishing up with a smart sprint. Avenger, Cyone, Netta Oro and Great Author started off at intervals of two lengths and went a mile and a-half. They reached the mile post in 2.17 3-5, and finished their task in 3.23. The quartet finished in close order, with Cyone going particularly well. Native (Prince and Merce Bingen were given steady work. Purser started off in front of Glenrossie and after half a mile Kotuku Jack joined in. After a useful mile they moved along faster. Kotuku Jack was eased up in the straight, but the other pair finished together in 3.23 1-5, the last half mile being done in 1.3. Peter Bingen paced a mile and a half in 3.19 2-5, after taking 1.9 for the first half mile. /Somerby went two miles in 4.38, but did not finish with much dash. Great Nelson covered a mile and a quarter, taking 1.6 for the last half mile.

Major Lind did two miles comfortably in 4.42. Sarsaparilla took 4.44 for two miles, giving a good display, save for one bad break. Enawah started behind Te Wahia (in saddle) and the pair went a mile and a half, the former being an easy winner in 3.25. Recent foalings at Roydon Lodge have been as follow:—Fillv bv Great Bingen from Slapfast, who is on a return visit to Silk Thread; colt by Silk Thread from Grattan Queen, who is on a return visit to Great Bingen; filly by Silk Thread from Nulgeria, who is on a return visit to Silk Thread; filly by Silk Thread from Belle Keller, who is on a return visit to Silk Thread; colt by Frank Worthy from Sea Pearl, who will now visit Acron. Bryce Disqualified UPHELD BY N.Z. ASSN. (IPer Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, November 9. At a special meeting of the Boar.l of the New Zealand Trotting Association, the appeal of Andrew Bryce against the disqualification of himself and the horse Ngingongingo for twelve months by the Auckland Trotting Club was upheld. N.Z. HORSE DOPED. AT SYDNEY MEETING. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn). (Received November 9 at 11.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 9. The inquiry 'into whether the New Zealand horse Goldray was doped at Moorfield races on October 31st disclosed that Goldray had been tampered with, but, as a complaint, was not made until after the meeting, the Stewards were unable to determine whether the doping occurred on or off the course. Therefore no action was possible.
