LOCAL MATCHES United Club’s Double MARIST AND RUNANGA THREE POINTS EACH. TWO CENTURIES SCORED. The competitions conducted by the West Coast Cricket Association were continued over the week-end. Perfect weather prevailed and wickets and grounds were in excellent order. Features of the day wore centuries by Nightingale and Restieaux, both members of the United A team. Runanga A secured a three-point win over Cobden A and Marist A gained a threepoint win over Cobden B, while United B gained a three-pointer at the expense of Brunner. Stars in scoring 108 in their first innings against United A, did remarkably well for a promoted B Division eleven, against a very strong bowling side. Tn the B Division Camerons and Runanga secured three-point wins, while Kamaka obtained a two-pointer over Kumara. A start was made with the Saturday senior competition. Two third grade matches were also played. Technical teams being successful in both.

“A” Division MARIST A DEFEAT COBDEN B. At the Cobden Domain yesterday afternoon, before a fair crowd of spectators, Marist A gained a three-point win over Cobden B, winning by an innings and 18 runs. The last Cobden batsman was dismissed with only five minutes to go to stumps. Cobden batted first and were all out for 41, Dewar 13 and James 11 being the only ones to reach the doubles. Morris 6 for 31 and Cornish 2 for 9 secured the wickets. Marist hit up 143 for the loss of six wickets and declared. Marshall top scored with 51 not out, Blackaby 31 and Matthews 21 also contributing well. Rose, James and [Pike obtained the wickets. On their [second visit to the wickets, Cobden scored 84, Dewar 22 not out and McBain 20, .with Mr Extras 24, doing most of the scoring. “B” Division KAMAKA BEAT KUMARA. The Kamaka eleven gained a twopoint win over Kumara at Kumara yesterday afternoon in a B Division match. Kamaka opened and their innings realised 132 runs, Tibbles 43 and Hurst 25 making the best stands. Kumara made 79, J. McLean 28 and W. Bell 15 being the only players to make a good stand. Third Grade TECH B DEFEAT MARIST. Technical B defeated Marist in a third grade match at Victoria Park on Saturday, by 69 runs, thus gaining a three point win. Tech batted first and scored 84, Matheson being at the head of the list with 25. Rose 12 and Mr Extras 16 were others to reach the doubles. Kiely 3 for 19 and MeDiarmid 2 for 16 were the most successful Marist bowlers. Marist in their first innings hit up 86, Pollock 30 and Gilbert 22 being the most successful batsmen. Collett 3 for 14, Rose 3 for 28 and Gilmour 3 for 10 secured the wickets for Tech. Technical in their second (strike made 144, Collett hitting up 95 before being caught out. He hit ten i fours and five sixers. Marist scored only 73 in their second innings, Gilbert 19, erase 13 and Mr Extras 16 contributing most runs. Collett 6 for 20 and Rose 3 for 23 secured the wickets for Tech. TECH A DEFEAT OLD BOYS. Technical A defeated Tech Old Boys in a. third grade match at the School Grounds on Saturday by an innings and II I runs, thus gaining a throe point win. The Old Boys were in their first innings dismissed for 13, Kibble 5 for 7 and Blair 4 for 2 proving almost unplayable. On their second visit to the wickets, they did little better, scoring 37. Kibble 5 for 14, and Blair 3 for IS were again successful trundlers. In their innings the School declared with nine wickets down for 161 runs.
