On Saturday afternoon, the eight-een-milo bicycle road race from Taylorville Ngahere anj back wa s contested by nine riders. The winner proved to be Thomas (70 seconds), but Thompson (1 min 29 secs), who came in second, when leading 100 yards from the post( w*as attacked by cramp, or he would doubtless have been first.
