The shops were those of the following:—G. C. Peebles, general storekepeer; E. M. Brycnton, butcher; McCall, saddler; and Mrs Sutherland, milliner. The , contents of McCall’s and Mrs Sutherland’s shops were removed safely. The buildings were valued at over two | thousand sterling. The value of the I contents of Peebles’ and Brycnton’s shops was estimated at £2OOO. Peebles’ stock was insured, but the amount is not available.
