LABOUR PARTY’S FIGHT. AGAINST WAGE REDUCTIONS. From all over New Zealand messages are still coming to hand expressing appreciation of the great fight put up by the Labour Party in the House against the present Government’s wage-reduc-ing policy. The following are among the messages received since the last hatch was published: — At its meeting the Nelson branch of the Amalgamated Engineering ami Allied Trades Industrial Union of Workers unanimously adopted a resolution | congratulating the members of the Labour Party in the House of Representatives on the able manner in which they fought the combined forces of the United and Reform Parties on the question of the 10 per cent cut in the wages of i the workers. The resolution embodied the opinion that all Trade Unionists throughout. Now Zealand should support the T.abour Party in its political fight. The final portion of the resolution reads: “That this Union views with disfavour the biassed attitude of certain newspapers in connection with reports on Labour speeches and conference in connection with the Wages Reduction Bill.” The secretary of the East Town (Wanganui) Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants writes:— 1 have boon instructed to convey to you and the other members of the Parliamentary Labour Party our deep gratitude for the splendid fight you waged against the so-called Finance Bill just j passed by the House. The members of the East Town Branch very much appreciate your efforts to preserve our wages and standard of living.” From the Taumarunui Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants (to Mr F. Langstone. M.P.): “At the last meeting of this Branch I was instructed to convey the thanks of the members to the Labour Party in Parliament, and yourself in particular, for the splendid fight put up against the wage reducing Bill. We :j ll appreciate the good work done by the Party, and are only sorry their efforts were in vain.
