N.S.W. NOTE ROBBERY
NEW COMPLICATIONS. SOME OF MISSING NOTES NOT SENT. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) SYDNEY, May 2. It ha s been discovered that a thousand pounds worth of five pound notes, reported stolen between Sydney and Canberra yesterday, were included in a batch forwarded to the Wollongong branch of the Commonwealth Bank. Thl : s discovery opens up a new line of investigation. Unless there ha s been a clerical error it proves conclusively that £lO,OOO intended for Canberra never left Sydney. A man at Wollongong drowfivers from the bank and found, the numbers thereon corresponded with some of those reported as stolen.
