(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 1. Dr. Kidson’s weather report and forecast are as follows:—General situation: The cyclone which crossed the Dominion yesterday moved rapidly eastwards and an intense anti-cyclone advanced on to southern New Zealand. Forecast: Winds.— Southerly winds, strong to gale force north of Greymouth and Akaroa. but soon moderating elsewhere to light to moderate. Seas (N.Z. waters): —-Heavy in the Cook Strait area but moderate south of Farewell Spit. Elsewhere rough, but later decreasing. Tasman Sea:— Moderate to fresh south to oast winds in the eastern Tasman with smooth to moderate seas. Weather fair to fine in western districts from Taranaki southwards, and in southern half of South Island, elsewhere changeable and squally with passing showers, but conditions improving soon. Cold temperatures with some frosts in South Island.
