POLICEMAN SHOT DEAD. FOR EVIDENCE AGAINST MURDERER. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) CHICAGO, May 1. Gangland took revenge o-n the chief witness against Leo Brothers, who was recently convicted of the Lingle murder. He was a policeman, Anthony Ruthy, who gave eye-witness testimony. He was killed in a pistol battle dn the Michigan Boulevard. Another officer was shot, but he probably will recover. Frank Jordan, a gangster with a specialty for robbing banks, was later captured by three other policemen, after a wild shooting melee, in which pedestrians ducked from the sidewalk.
