FRIDAY, MAY IST. Mister Roe, who dispensed Radio | Magic to the enjoyment .of IYA listeners some months ago, is again to eu- I tertain with a second series of Radio Magic, commencing this evening. The New Clarion Quartet, consisting of | Misses Lilian Woods and Beryl Smith, • Messrs Lambert Harvey and Duncan i Black,' will be heard in several solos, | duets and quartettes, including a med- ■ ley of old-time songs. The Orchestral j Octet will also contribute.

A special feature of 2YA’s programme will be a recital by Mr Clement May of -excerpts from C. J. Dennis’s

‘‘The Sentimental Bloke.” Mr Dennis Sheard (the Australian tenor), will again delight listeners i n ±’ou r songs with orchestral accompaniment, 11 Eileen Allanah,” “Where the River Shannon Flows,” “When my Ships Conic Sailing Home ’ ’ and ‘ ‘ When Irish Eyes are Smiling.” Another vocalist will bo Mr Geo. Neel, baritone. Mr Allan Shanj will be heard in novelty piano solos The Orchestrina will supply the incidental music for the evening.

Making his debut to 3YA, listeners this evening will be Mr Karl Atkinson, whoi'sle gramophone |lecjtuip-recitals from IYA have been so popular. His theme will be “The Lure of the Waltz.” Mr Atkinson is now on the administrative staff of the Broadcast-

ing Company, Christchurch. Also contributing to the programme will be Mrs Nelson Kerr (contralto) and Mr R. S. H. Buchanan (bass), presenting a variety of vocal numbers. Miss Aileen Warren (pianiste), the Melody Makers (with saxophone and piano) and the Studio Trio, presenting bright music. Introduced into- the play will

be “The Cottage Scene” from “The; Lady of Lyons.” written by Lord Lyt-1 ton. It is to be produced by Miss' Naarc Hooper, who will be assisted' by Miss Daisy Armstrong and Mr H. L. Shaw.

A popular programme will be provided by the 4YA Salon Orchestra. The vocalists will be Miss Vallis

(mezzo-soprano), Miss M. Kenward (mezzo-contralto) and Mr Montague (tenor) with Scottish humour from Mr B. Brown. Selections on the har-1 monica “Popular Marches” and “Pop-| u-ar Melodies,” will be played by Mr’ E. Murphy.
