I Without discussion, the Wellington !Hospital Board passed a resolution to|day that all the honoraria, salaries, and wages of its staffs, excepting the award wages, be reduced by 10 per Jcent. ■ In the case of those who are paid monthly, the reduction is to operate as from April Ist. In the case of those paid weekly it starts from April 30. It was decided that, in addition to (this reduction, all the members of the staff living in. except the first, second, third, and year nurses, shall have the equivalent of 10 per cent of their emoluments deducted from their salaries or wages. These conditions do not apply to the appointments made since December 1 193W; if the commenciing salary is below the schedule rate. ;Tho new conditions are to remain in ,op-ration until December 31, 1932, when (according to the resolution, ths whole 'position will be reviewed by the Board.

Upon a:i Tntimhtion from the Health Department that it was not prepared to iteeommend'.the Minister to approve its Board’s estimates, until thd amount of them had been reduced 'from £144,623 to £12f),789, the Wellington Hospital Board decided to-day to make the necessary adjustment to enable this to be done.
