BROADCASTING
MONDAY, APRIL 27TH. Three magnificent operatic numbers, with orchestral accompaniment, will be presented by Signor Cesaroni at 2YA this evening—“ Romance (from “Il Trovatore ’’), the “Romance” (from “The Masked Ball”) and “Figaro’s Song” (from “The Marriage of Figaro”). Signor Cesaroni will also sing, with male chorus, “The Chorus of Dervishes- (from “The ruins of Athens,” by Beethoven. Some ballads, sung by Mrs Ardrey, Miss Ailsa Dillon and Mrs K. McAllum, will complete an unusually fine and varied vocal programme. The Orchestrina’s numbers will include Mendelssohn’s delightful overture “Fingal’s Cave.”
i The New Brighton Municipal Band, under conductor J. A. Nuttall, will be the instrumentalists for 3YA’s program1 me. Marches, waltzes, foxtrots and a selection, “Empire Band,” will be play- ( ed. The vocal programme will be pro- | vided by Mrs J. A. Edwards (soprano). Miss Margaret Richardson (contralto), Mr E. R. Pitman (tenor) and Mr H. Lnstone (humourist).
A concert to be given in the Dunedin Town Hall by the Royal Dunedin Male Choir, under Dr V. E. Galway, will be . broadcast by 4YA. The programme to bo presented 1 will be exceptionally tine Part songs and choruses will be a feature of the -evening’s entertainment. These numbers will include “Oft in the Stilly Nigh,” Hymn to Music,’’ I “Hohenlinden,” “Volga Boat Song,” the negro spiritual “Swing Low, •Sweet Chariot” and a number of sea 1 chanties. Miss Freda Elmes (soprano), Mr Wm. Mills (tenor) and Mr F. C. - Cooper (bass) will be the soloists. ’Cello items will be contributed by Miss V. Moffett. Silent day at IYA.
