Monthly Meeting The monthly meeting of the Grej’ County Council was held on Friday. Present: Councillors W. Ogilvie (chairman), A. McDonneU, J. Ryall, J. Mulcarc, A. Donnellan, 11. G. Carter, A. McDonnell, G. Blair a~id J. W. Hanj nan. The County Engineer, Mr J- | Higgins, and the County Clerk Mr M. I' Keating were also in attendance. The Transport Department wrote forwarding copy of Motor Drivers.’ j.Regulations for 1931 and asked fo r reIturn of traffic licenses collected for the year ended March 31st. 1931. Rek ceived and information to be supplied. Mr H. W. de Castro, Audit Inspector wrote stating that as there had been only one transaction in the Workers’ Dwelling Loan Bank Account since 1927 and with the annual charge increased to £1 for keeping this account, the balance of £4ll/7/2, unless immediI ately required to be operated upon should be invested either in the Sinking Fund or placed on Fixed Deposit. I If the account was closed this month the half yearly charge to September 1931 would be avoided. The County Clerk said the Council raised a loan to build workers dwellings in 1927 and after four houses had been built there was a balance of £4ll/17/2. There was no cottage wanted anywhere at present. A. Johnston, wrote stating that the balance of authority, £47 in connection with Crooked River Bridge had been cancelled. The Post and Telegraph Department wrote with reference to removal of telegraph poles, and suggesting that for future removals, the Council enter into an agreement to. bear half the I costs. The Engineer said he did not think the request was an unreasonable one.—lt was agreed to. ! The Unemployment Board wrote • asking for a refund of £B/8/- in connection with the employment of men 1 under age.
