TAXI TRAGEDY

DRIVER KILLED. CHRISTCHURCH, April 26. Th? driver of a taxi, Sinclair Le Marne, aged 25, was killed early this morning when a car he was driving capsized, when turning a corner between Milton Street and Johnson Street. Three passengers in the car. Thomas William Puddle, Peggy Puddle, and Patrick Kara tiana, escaped with minor cuts and bruises. No one witnessed the acc dent, and the passengers were unaware of what had happened. It seems probable that Le Warne, in making the turning, struck the kerb with the inside wheels, and that the jolt threw the car over. Le Warne received severe head injuries. He was alive when lifted from th wreckage, but died almost immed’ately. Le Warne had been driving a taxi for some years. He was by trade a motor mechanic.
