“WIZARD” SMITH’S NOT RECOGNISED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Alay 8. The claim by Air Norman Smith to have made a ten mile world record in a Cadillac motor car with a Rolls Royce aero engine at the Ninety Mile' Beach, North Auckland, has nq K t been upheld by thc Royal Automobile Club. “The Motor” (England) of March 11th states that the international regulations covering an attempt on any I world and international class records | require that all records up to ten 1 miles shall be automatically timed by lan apparatus registering to within oncI tenth of a second,, and, if attempted | on a straightaway course-, the distance shall be covered in both directions. As I these conditions were not complied | Avith, the R.A.C. is not able Io submit the claim to the A.I.A.C.R. for recogI nition.
