N.S.W. WAGE CUTTING
AND LONGER HOURS. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) SYDNEY, May 8. Bitter opposition is shown towards the New South Wales Government’s bill to restore the forty-eight hours’ week, introduced in the Assembly by Treasurer Stevens. Mr Baddeloy (ex-Minister of Mines) challenged the Government to go to the country for a frosh mandate. The measure also provides for rationing of work and legal sanction of piece work. The Cabinet have definitely decided ' to exclude the police force from the i wage cut proposals.
