Two Nelson telegraphist 8, Messrs A. H. "Buchanan and Janies McCloughlin, wore sent on to Murchison to feii‘ve the staff there, and have spent nlany trying days in the town. Dr Potaki, of the Nelon Hospital staff, proceeded to Murchison yi sterday to relieve Dr McLeaji ,who has rendered great service since the ’quake. Hon W. W. Snodgrass, who accompanied the Hon. J. G. Coates on lii** recent visit to Murchison, said to-day that mention should be made in connection with the splendid work that has been done at Murchison of the effort of the SaJvation Army officer, Captain Walker ,of Reefton ,aud William' Bloom, who set out for the strieß Ai airea from Reefton. They went to see if assistance was required at the Upper Maruia area. Finding matters fairly satisfactory there, they proceed d on to Murchison, where their services have been much appreciated. “To have accomplished the journ’y under present conditions on an errajid of mercy was very fine,” concluded Mr Snodgrass.
