STORM IN THE NORTH. WELLINGTON, April 28. Dr Kidson’s weather report is as follows General situation: A very intense cyclone is centred west of Auckland, and is moving south-east-wiard. The\ pressure |is very - high over south-eastern Australia. Forecast Winds strong no’rth-east to northerly winds to gale north of Cape Egmont and Napier, later backing to west and southwest; elsewhere strong east to southeast winds to gale veering to southerly later. Seas (N.Z. waters): rSeas becoming rough to heavy in New Zealand waters generally. Tasman S < a: South-westerly winds in the north-east Tasman and south-dasterly in the south-east portion, strong to strong gale force with rough nigh seas. Weather: Weather dull and stormy, with much mist. General rain is probable, with heavy falls and flooded 'rivers in many districts. Temperatures are becoming colder. Snow on the ranges of the South Island. The following special weather report was received on Saturday from Dr Kidson: —Au intense cyclone is centred west of Cape Maria van Diemen, and is moving south-eastward. Expect stormy weather, with east to south gales, and general heavy rain, with rivers- flooded. GALE ON N.S.W. COAST. (Received April 28 at 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 28. The week-end weather was fine, but bitterly cold. A south-east gale was thrashing the coast. The smaller vessels’ movements were disorganised.
