Man Badly Injured. FOUND ON ROADSIDE. CHRISTCHURCH April 26. William Edward Butcher, aged 52, a resident of Medbury, was found in n semi-conscious condition alongside the Hurunui bridge, early this morning The man was suffering from severe injuries, and it is thought that he was knocked down by some vehicle. W. S. Fitzsimmons, who lives in a hut nearby, heard groans outside the door of his hut, and there found Butcher, who had apparently crawled to the [spoL Medical attention was secured, and the man was removed to Waikari Hospital,. Butcher’s chief injury was a deep wound on the face from the left eye to the ear, the eye being completely destroyed.
