OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. VAUDEVILLE AND PICTURES. KAMO THE WONDER. An Irene Rich characterisation is a real event in the cinema world, and never has the charming actress given a more moving and authentic portrayal than in “The Desert Woman,” the Warner Bros.’ melodrama of the desert, directed by Michael Curtiz. Miss Rich is cast as Lady Diana Maxwell, a woman torn b-tween love for the youth—who crornjes to the desolate where she i}s wife and slave of the commanding officer—and the maternal instinct which urges her to renounc'd, rather than claim, the lad. The eset includes William Russell, Willi/ajm Collier Jnr., Douglas Gerrard, John Milljan and Jack Ackroyd. “The Desert Woman” comes to the Opera House to-night. Tho programme will also include “Kamp,” the great f&ponent of the banjo-mandolin, “The, man with the lightning fingers” in an act that fills everyone with wonder and admiration. MONDAY AND TUESDAY. LILLIAN GISH IN “ANNIE LAURIE.” The famous Scottish ballad “Annie Laurie” has been converted to the screes, 'in particularly lavish picture by MJ ytro-Gpldwyn-Mayer, with Lillian Gish taking the role of “the Scottish Joan of Arc.” This picture will (doubtless- draw immense crowds when it i's screened at the Opera House on Monday and Tuesday next. “Annie Laurj**” is said to be th e mightiest and most colourful romance ever brought to the screen.
