BARRYTOWN NOTES.

(Our Own Corresponlent.) The final meeting of the Barrytown Sports Club was held on Monday, when arrangemPJnts were made in connection with the sports t.o be held on. Saturday next. Record nominations have been, received for all athletic and axemen’s ev.e»ts. A total of 25 have entered for the 15in underhand chop of £25; and 35 acceptances have been received for the 13in underhand chop; and 28 fot the district handicap ehop; while 20 nomin - ations have been redMved for bothath letic invents. The acceptances include the best athletes and axemen of the West Coast. The programme consists of numerous events for men, women and children, whil.')/ valuable prizes are being given, for all contests. The running track is in excellent order and the timber for the <ffiops is first class. The first <avent of the day is the district handicap ehop, which is set down to commence at 12.30 p.m. The various starters are quite capable for the work allo’ffed them, and all events will be run punctually to the times arranged. The local (Choppers and runners are in active training. Bamnjster and Coulson will have to be at their best if they are to defeat the local axeman, Parker. Ice-cream aand afternoon tea wil] bo‘ obtainable bn the ground; while lunch and tea will be procurable at the All Nations Hotel. A chocolate alley will be run under the supervision of the committed. The day’s sports will be fittingly concluded with a- ball. The arrangements are in the capable hands of a committee consisting of both ladies and gentlemen. The progamme wiR consist of both old time and jazz dances, while/ several novelties and lucky dances have been included. The floor is in excellent order and will be under the control of a capable M.C.; and the m'usic. and supper will be of the best. Cars will leave the Greymouth Railway Station for the sports on the arrival of th!a» Hokitika and Reef ton trains.
