There wais an excess of departures over arrivals in the passenger figures for the port of Auckland for the month of March, the number of persons leaving being twice the number of those entering. During March, 34 vessels from overseas ports reached Auckland, compared with 20 in the preceding mpnth. The number of vessels leaving Auckland for overso*i|s destinations was 16, as against 15 in January. Included in the departures were six mail and these each carried nearly 300 passengers, this accounting for the large total of outward passengers, 1974, an increase of 623 compared with February.
