MORE RECORDS. At N.Z. Championships. WELLINGTON, February JO. A conclusion wap reached on Sai urday with the New Zealand Amateur Swimming' Championships Carnival at Te Aro Baths. Fine weather prevailed and there was a goou attendance of the public. One new record was established. This was in the 440 yards ladies’ championship, which was worn by Miss K. Miller in Omin 6 2.-5 secs, or 1 3-5 seconds better than the record by Miss Gwitha Shand (Canterbury). Miss Miller swam, a grea* race from the start. After 20b yams sub drew a way from Miss D. Grant (Auckland), and won by a big margin. Another splendid performance was that of W. Cameron (Wellington) who won the 50 yards invitation scratch ra&e in 23 2-5 secs. This beats by one-fifth of a second the best reccirdhd time in Now Zealand or Australia.

A third outstanding swim was when Miss P. Robertson (Auckland) in the 1(h) yards ladies ’ handicap, covered the distance in 65 3-5 secs, equalling the standing record of Miss E. JStockley (Auckland) for the 100 yards ladies’ championship. A close conh-ist was witnessed between. A. Stokes (Canterbury) and Bridson (Auckland) in the 440 yards men’s championship. D. P. Lindsay (Auckland) did not defend his title. Bridson and Stokes swam level the whole way, and in an exciting finish Bridson won by a narrow margin. Bridson’s time of 5 min 24 4-5 secs was only two fifths of a second outside the record for the distance. There were a number of withdrawals on the part of competitors in some qf the events, leaving depleted fields.
