(From Our Own Correspondent.) GENERAL. v Mrs and Miss L. King, who have been on holiday to Christchurch, have returned to Reef ton. Messrs S. Duffy and T. Scanlon Westport, we,re visitors to Rcefton for the week-end, and left on return yesterMiss D. Blackmore arrived by Saturday evening’s express on a. visit to her parents. The following is a list of the draw in the second round of the snooker tournament, which is being held in the Globe Billiard Saloon: —E. Downey scr and O. Hoy 10 behind, F. King scr and IT. Leo scr, P. Costello 17 behind and P. Slattery 10 behind, J. Mclnroe 17 behind and C. Curtis 17 behind. J. Schofield scr and J. Lawry scr, G. Osbourne 45 behind and J. Byrne 25 be hind C. Skinner 17 behind. and P. Coghlan 10 behind. C. Coxall a bye. Two games in the second round have* been completed, and resulted as follows: J. McMahon (17 behind) 101 won from J. Shaw (25 behind) 56; F. J. Easther (scr) 79 beat R. McLean (10 behind) 78. . McMahon has so far obtained the biggest break, with a score of 24. RUGBY. Waratah IT 9, Cronadun IT 3. Waratah 11, Pirates 0. Convent Primary (Reefton) 35, P-t Canice’s (Westport) 6. At th# Reef ton Racecourse on Saturday. St Canice’s Primary (Westport) team were defeated by the Convent Primary School team by 35 points to 6. The home team put up a good exhibition, and showed superior combination to their opposition. Mr T. Irving was refeiee. At the Reef ton Racecourse on Sunday afternoon, the Waratah and Cronadun juniors clashed in the Discaciati Cup competition, the former winning by 9 points tn 3, after a good exhibition and evenly contested game. Trios were scored for the winners bjv J. Goodyc r and R. White, and R. Scott kicked a penalty goal. McMahon scored for Cronadun. Mr D. Hunt ably controlled the game. Outstanding players for Waratahs were Kremar, Lewis and White; for Cronadun, McMahon, Hewison ami J. O’Malley. KNOCKOUT CUP COMPETITION. WARATAH 11. PIRATES 0. At the Rcefton Racecourse on Sunday afternoon, in excellent weather. Waratahs defeated Pirates by 11 points to nil. after a hard-fought and keenly contested game. No points were gained by either side in the first spell, but in the. second spell Waratahs livened tip, .(nd a good exposition of Rugby was displayed by both teams. Warataji’s first points were obtained from a penalty kirk by W. Hunt ; M. Hunt and IT. Talbot scored a try each and R. Lythgoe converted the last-named’s try. Mr F. Cutbush was referee. THE LEAGUE GAME. At Totara Flat on Sunday afternoon, Reefton seniors defeated Rivals by 30 points to 15. Reefton were tho superior team, and easily accounted for the opposition. Mr J. Rodden (Waiuta) was a strict and impartial referee.
