A successful ascent of Mount Ma te Brun in the Southern Alps was made by a Wellington lady, Mrs Ivon Wilson, last week, in company of Guides 1 cter Graham and Frank Alix, of the Waiho Gorge. The party loft the A\aiho for the Hermitage s 'ia the Copland Pass, and then proceceded up the Tasman Glacier to the Alaltc Brun hut. From this point, the ascent to the 19,421 summit of Malte Brun was made in about 10 hours by the north-west arrete and the Cheval Ridge. After the ascent, the return journey to the Waiho was made via th e Graham Saddle and the Franz Josef Glacier.
