FORCE FOR SAMOA

RUSH TO ENLIST. WELLINGTON, April 11The Auckland and Wellington drafts of the special force of military police recruited to replace the marines in Western Samoa arrived at Treutham this morning to undergo a brief course of training before embarking. The Southern complements will arrive tomorrow. There were nearly 500 applications for 74 vacancies. The Auckland quota is 22; Wellington 18, Christchurch and Dunedin 13, the remainder being made up of five non-commissioned officers and three officers. They will leave for Samoa on April 21. An Auckland batch of military police for Samoa, numbering 22, left by train in charge of Lieutenant R. S. Judson, V. (’. They go into camp at Trent ham with recruits from other centres in New Zealand. The whole company comprising 74 officers and men, sails from Auckland on April 21, under lhe command of Major P. 11. Bell, of Dunedin.
