COMMITTEE AIEETING. A meeting of the above League was held last ('veiling in the meeting room at the Town Hall. Presen.'.: Alesdrs J. D. Wingham (chair), James O’Brien, A. H. Wild.*. W. 11. Parfitt, J. B. Kent, F. Tzzard, J. Crooks, and E. I. Lord. Apologies were received from Afessrs J. W. Greenslade and L. B. Aliller. The President. Air D. Al. Robertson, resigned his position owing to business reasons. Air Robertson resignation was accepted with regret, members one and all making appreciative reference to his untiring efforts in the interests of the League;. The Secretary was instructed to record the services of Mr Robertson on the minutes. Correspondence was received from the Westport Progress Secretary (Air T. Fairhall) re coming conference, as follows:— In accordance with resolution passed at the last annual <*oid‘rrenee of Leagues held in Christchurch T am directed to suggest to you the- first week in Alay as a suitable date for the next conference to be hold at Westport. The present suggestion is that delegates should arrive in Wos'port on the evening of Tuesday, the Ist Alay, leaving on return on Friday and Saturday. Will you kindly advise as

early as possible if these, dates will be suitable and also notify me the approximate number of delegates which you propose to send, together with the number of ladies who are expected to accompany '.them. Remits for the conference should bo in my hands by the 7th April in order to allow time for the preparation of an agenda paper and its distribution. Programme of the conference is in preparation, together with arrangemeiiits for the entertainment of delegated and their lail’ii’fi. who will l>o shown as many points of interest in the district as tidm perlin',ls. Social amenities arc also iiic’mb .1. It is hoped that delegates will h. ve an opportunity of seeing something of our local industries, notably milling ami scenic features. Aly League recommends the holding of the conference a little ear li( r this year in order to avoid the discomfort of travelling in the winter weather.
