CROQUET
MAKURA CLUE. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent by members and friends at the Makura Croquet Club’s Courts, yesterday afternoon, when various competitions were held. In the usual weekly competition, Mrs. Hannan won the trophy in the A section, and Airs. Coburn iu the B. section. The scores were as follows: — A:—Airs. Hannan 17, Airs. Saywcll 16, Mrs. Phillips, .14, Miss Sheedy, Airs. AVhibley 13, Airs. Thomas 11, Airs. Smith 6, Mrs. Fogarty 3. Section B:—Airs. Coburn 17. Airs. McQueen 15, Airs. Topliss 14, Airs. Smythe and Airs. Tennent 12, Aliss Pratt 6, Mrs. Johnston 3. A golf croquet- competition was also held, Airs. Fogarty wining the tjrophy, and giving a very fine exhibition of the game. In the putting competition, Mrs. Hannan, Mrs. Saywcll, and Airs. Smyth e tied lor the prize, and in the play off Airs. Hannan proved the winner. The 'cmi final in the Club’s Singles Championship was played on Tuesday between Airs. Tennent and Airs. Whibl’y. When on c of the most interesting games of the season was witnessed, Airs. Tennent eventually proving tht” winner by 26 points to 23. The final in this competition will be played on Friday, when Airs. Tennent meets Air-;. Saywcll.
