Mr R. Stewart, Christchurch, is a visitor to Greyrnouth. "Miss I. Wccnik, after a visit to Wellington, has returned to Greyrnouth. Mr W. Leitch has returned to Granity, after visiting Christchurch. Mrs Charles Parfitt left for Master lon yesterday, owing to the serious illness of her mother, Mrs J. Hall. Airs Gunn, senr., of Cobden, lias returned, after having visited her daughter, Mrs C. Undril], of Springfield. Miss M. Syme, of Christchurch, is on a visit to her parents, Air and Mrs D. Syme, Ruiianga. Mr Harry Moss, of Wellington, who has been on a visit to Greyrnouth, returns' to-day. Miss Nellie Anderson, of Puketahi Street, who has been the guest of Mr 11. E. Holland, at Westport, returns home .to-day. Messrs J. Fitzgerald and M. Griffon are among the Blackball residents who have been visiting Buller during the past few days. The wedding takes place at Reefton on Thursday of Mr J. Walker, formerly a well known draper of Grey mouth, to Miss Pearl Hobbs, of Blaketown. The Duke of Abercorn, Governor of the North of Ireland, is to retain the office for another six years, says a London cable. The officer-in-charge of the Tourist and Health resorts, Mr B. M. Wilson, has arrived in Greymou.th. He is at present visiting South Westland, and returns at the end of the week. Mr and Mrs A. S. Dunford and family leave by to-day’s express for Oamaru, to which railway centre Mr Dunford has been promoted as Assistant Locomotive Foreman. A farewell social is being tendered to-morrow evening at the Blaketown Hall to Miss Dunn, head teacher of Blaketown School, who is leaving .io take up another position. Mr 11. E. Mai kcr. of Greyrnouth, in a draper s business. Tiu . friends of Mrs A. S. Dunford who is leaving to-day for Oamaru met vesterdav afternoon at the residence of Mrs J. Steel to bid her farewell, there being a numerous gathering. Mrs Steel was hostess for the occasion, and Mrs Dunford was presented with a handsome oak tray and a valuable tea set. Afternoon tea brought a veiy pleasant gathering to a close.

Mr Win. Larcombe, of the Municipal Clerical Staff, was on Saturday tern dered a presentation by the whole of the Borough staffs, in view ot his recent marriage. The presentation, which took the form of a handsome clock was made by the Town Clerk, Mr F H Denton, who referred in eulogistic terms to the many good qualities of the recipient, and wished him and Mrs Larcombe every happiness and prosperity. His remarks were cordially endorsed by Messrs A J. Fairmaid (Borough Engineer), Jas. Kennedy (Manager of the Municipal Gasworks), C Heaphy (Accountant), P .O’Neill (Foreman), W. Corcoran (Inspector), and J Evans (Waterworks Staff), all of whom congratulated Mr Larcombe. who suitably responded, thanking the L staffs for their very acceptable present and kind wishes.
