CHAMPIOm javelin throwe r O LATEST FEAT. HAWHRA, March 2i. A javelin throw of 21u J eel 3; inches, was registered by the Olympic, re; rcsentative, S. A. Lay, in an exhibition at a gymkhana, conducted by the Egmou: A and I’ Association? this afternoon. Lay’s previous best effort for New Zealand and Australia was 2U9 feet 4 inches, at New Plymouth on February 4. To-day’s effort is nearly seven feet better, and only 2 feet 5 inches short of the world’s record of 218 feet 8 3-8 inches. As he had the advantage of a light cross breeze, a new' record for Australasia is not being applied for. MIAMA GOLF TOURNEY. NEW YORK, March 20. A golf tournament at Miama (Florida) resulted: Johnny Farrell Mamaronick (New Y’ork), first 72 holes, with 27-1 strokes. Kirkwood was third with 279, and Sarazen fifth with 283.
