Two convicted Deputies, Couturier and Cachin, attended a session in the Chamber, but were arrested immediately the House rose, and taken away in motors, while sympathisers cheered. U.S. DEMOCRATS CONVENTION. (Received January 13 at 9.55 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 13. The Democratic National Presidential Convention will be held at Houston, Texas, on June 26th. IMMIGRATION CONFERENCE. OTTAWA, January 13. Sir John Aird, of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, and Mr Forke, Minister of Immigration, are negotiating for a Dominion-wide conference of immigration officials and Provincial Premiers, to secure greater flow of British settlers. INDIAN GOVERNMENT LOAN. LODNON, January 14. The Government of India has underwritten 44 per cent, a loan of £7,500,000, issuing at ninetyone and a-half per cent., and redeemable in 1958-68.
