OVERDOSE OF PILLS.

INFANT GIRL DIES IN HOSPITAL. AUCKLAND, January 12. Zane Unis Nation, aged four, daughter of George Howe Nation, died in the hospital, apparently from an overdose of pills. The father of the child, giving evidence at the inquiry, said that he was in the hospital three months ago. When he left he was given by a nurse about thirty small pills, which ho kept in a small box in his bedroom. About a month ago his wife gave Zane half a pill, and Noreen, another daughter the other half pill. Last night his wife when going out gave the children half a pill each. He and the wife were in the garden when Noreen told them that Zane was sick. They found the pill box empty, and five pills on the floor. Zane was very sick. Her limbs were twitching. A doctor was called, and at 8 o’clock the child was sent to the hospital. She died at midnight. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
