Traction not eligible. Trotting Notes. ADDINGTON TRACK WORK. (Special to “Argus.”) CHRISTCHURCH, January 11. The weather has been perfect this last morning or two at Addington for track work-outs. Yesterday morning, after being watered overnight, the track provided splendid going, but, as usual, only Kennerley made his appearance before 9 o’clock, the others waiting till the heat of the day had come, while the track was idle from 5 a.m. Kennerley, after sprinting Kyana and a maiden companion over several short dashes, sent them fast

over a circuit (six furlongs), which both did very well. E. 0. McDermott, after warming him up. dashed Little Johnnie off on a two mile errand. He gave a splendid exhibition, just making one slight skip when he had gone a mile, but the remainder of the distance he covered fast and clean. Elzcar, who looks none the worse for his Auckland experience, was sent as a companion with Rose Marie over several short spins.- Then Rose Marie (in saddle), with a tiny tot up, broke away over a mile and a-quarter journey. She went the first mile good and fast, but was stopping slightly over the latter part of the journey, though the time (2.50) for the journey was not bad. Dalmeny, looking fresh and well, after several smart sprints, rattled over a mile and a-half, w r ell on the outside, in good style. Concliff, after a few sharp sprints, worked a fast circuit, also being well on the outside. The Author Dillon—Francctta youngster in E. Berry’s stable was sprinted several times, showing a lot of pace and finishing his work well. Golden Devon, looking very well, was given, some useful work, in which the bonny little chestnut was anxious to increase the pace. Logan Park, after several smart dashes, rattled over one and a-half miles in his usual free style, finishing on at the end really well, being also well out. Randolph, looking lusty and well, was worked over a mile, which the trotter did on this occasion without the semblance of a break. Theckla Boy, looking very well, slipped away from the two-mile peg, on a mile and a-quarter errand, which he did really well, and was finishing very fast over the last bit. Pan Yau had St. Maura as a mate over three rounds of good solid work. The grey gelding looks improved for his recent racing. Our Lady, alone, worked nicely over * a couple of circuits, finishing home 1 vzell. I Western Voyage had Pageant as a • companion over a mile and three-quar- / ter journey, which both did well. The trotter impressed by his free and clean style. Lik3 the rest of Tomkinson’s horses, these two were well ou the outer. Lady Embrace was sprinted several t : mcs,,and then reeled off a fairly fast circuit in good style. The nicest, bit of work of the morn--sng was when Searchlight Lad and T ccanda G j neral hopped away from the two mile peg. Racing together over the first circuit, they were then joined by Thomas with Meb, and a little further on, when the first mile had been covered in a tick over 2.20, McKendry chipped in with Vice Admiral, and the last mile was run at a sounder pace. They were almost in line racing past j the mile poss, but in the run home | Searchlight Lad drew away and beat

Meb by i good length, with Locanda General two further away, and Vice Admiral oae further back. Reverie had a young trotting mare of Bennett’s as a companion for him in his work. Sarclla hit out very well in a useful bit of work over It miles. She looks well aftei her recent racing. Joan Dillon, after going a mile, was picked up by Thomas with Glimpse, and the latter, taking the inside berth (instead of the usual thing, the outside) finished half a length in front. Logan Holm and Diamond Child were companions in a useful mile and a-half.
