The first Sheffield Shield match of the season, against New South Wales, has commenced. ' Queensland lost eight wickets for 354; R. Oxenham 63, Gough 38, Rowe not out 96, Nothling 46, Benstead 44. The weather was hot and the wicket in good order. The Queenslanders put up an excellent fight, and handled the bowling confidently. Their fielding was somewhat below Now South Wales’ standard.
