MUNICIPAL BAND.

SUNDAY CONCERT. The Municipal Band performed at the Town Hall last evening before a large and appreciative audience; this being the first Sunday evening concert, given by the Band, this season. The hall was filled almost to its capacity. A well-chosen programme was submitted, the items by the Band being nicely interspersed with vocal numbers. The items contributed by the Band included the hymns ‘ 1 All * Hail the Power of Jesus Name” and “Hark! Hark! My Soul, It is the Lord!” marches, “Lights Out” and “Steady On” an exceptionally pleasing number bjfing "Garland of Classics” (a contest selection) which ■ with the ever popular “Sweet and Low” made a strong appeal to the audience. The instrumentalists under the able conductorship of Mr. A. McMasters, fully maintained the reputation of the Band, the quality of the music being equal to any of their previous performances. A particularly delightful number was the intermezzo “Tn a Monastery Garden.” the choral effect being given by the soloists present. Vocal solos were rendered by Mrs McAuley “Ave Maria” and “My Rosarv”; Miss Hopgood. “Hold Thou my Hand.” with violin obljgato bv Miss Coburn: and Mr. J. Hadlund “Comfort Ye” and “Every Valley Shall be Exalted.” and Mr. T. Clark, “Star of Bethlehem,” and “Little Brown Bird.” A cornet solo “Lead Kindly Light” by Mr. W. Sundbye, accompanied by the Band, formed a very pleasing diversion to the programme. The accompaniments for the soloists were sympathetically rendered by Miss F. Broad.
