WELLINGTON SENSATION
EXPLOSIONS IN GRATE. In Parliament Building. BLASTING CHARGE IN COAL. (Per Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, July 9. There was an explosion in the old wooden portion of the Parliamentary Buildings which alarmed the people of the neighbourhood this morning. It occurred in the grate of one of the Ministerial offices. Apparently it was due to an uncxploded blasting charge in a lump of coal. The grate was destroyed. Burning and smoking coal and lumps of metal were thrown about, damaging the furniture and smashing a window. A typist was the only person in the room. She had her legs slightly hurt, and suffered from shock.
