Mr. W. Mclilrum, S.M., returned to Greymouth on Saturday. Sergeant McHolm, of Lyttelton, a noted athlete, is a visitor to Kumara. Miss F. Back (Melbourne) is visiting the Coast. A San Francisco cablegram records the death of a noted doctor, Mr. John Drew, at the age of 73 years. Mrs J. Murphy, of Kumara, who has been unwell for some time past, is now an inmate of the Public Hospital. Mr. A. Schnack has been appointed adjudicator at the B. grade band contest, to be held at Temuka at the end of the year. Among recent arrivals at Revington’s Hotel are: Mr.;and Mrs Downie, Miss Patterson, Messrs Grimes, N. R. Wilson (Christchurch). Guests staying at the Albion Hotel $ include: Messrs J. Bremmer, L. G. Morton. R. A. Holmes, Perry, Travis, Bascand (Christchurch). The death of Mrs Emily Lawrence took place at her residence, Main St., Kumara, on Saturday morning at the age of 89 years. She was one of the oldest New Zealand colonists, having come to the Dominion over 60 years ago. She first lived nt Hokitika and then for about 50 years resided at Westbrook, lately coming to Kumara. She leaven three sons, James, John and David, of Kurara: also Miss Mary Lawrence. The family will have the sympathy many friends in their bereavement.
